In our school, we have given the regular classroom sand timers last year for their safe zone. Safe zone is our universal place where student can deal with their social emotional learning needs. The students realize that they can get calm in 10 minutes or less but still have a choice as to how much time they need with the 4 sand timers. Our specialist classrooms are asking for timers so that students can use this tool to help themselves calm down while the rest of the class is continuing in specials and do not have to wait to go to main classroom.
