You will often hear me say “Six legs on the floor, please,” because some of my fidgety first graders like to tip their chairs back. I have other little friends who tap their foot or pencil all while trying to pay attention. When I call on them they can respond well, but I can see that if they’d have a safe and quiet outlet for their busy bodies, their minds could focus better on the learning target. I’m also hoping to cut down on transition time to my teacher table so they don’t have to drag their chairs and go get their book boxes. By having the wobble chairs already at my table, they can transition faster which is so important for our new Benchmark Advance curriculum.
