By donating to this project, not only will you help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement as well! Flexible seating allows students to take responsibility of their learning and have the freedom to make the choices that work best for them, while consistently focusing on personalizing their learning. During small group centers and independent reading time, my scholars choose a seat and location within the classroom that works best for them. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in the classroom that includes sitting at desks or tables, standing work areas, or lying on the floor completing their work with a clipboard. Ensuring that my students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them and keeping them actively engaged. I have noticed an incredible difference in students when they are given a choice and options in their seating. They are constantly making good choices about where they sit, are actively engaged, and successfully complete more work than when they are just sitting at their desks. I have come to realize that my fourth graders are highly motivated and more engaged when offered a choice of where they would like to sit when working. The products that I have selected will help my students by providing them with additional seating options to support and personalize their learning. The wobble stools will offer students an alternative to using a regular chair when sitting at their desk, and will allow for some movement which can be extremely beneficial for the students that need to just get the "wiggles out". The comfy floor chairs will be a perfect addition to the reading corner, and the bean bag will be ideal for mindfulness in our Calm Corner!!
