In my classroom, students learn new skills that help them socially, emotionally, physically, and academically- all of these areas have most definitely been affected by the pandemic! Children's literature is the perfect foundation for all ages to help students understand life skill concepts such as resiliency, empathy, self-control, and balance, to name a few. The requested books can then carry these lessons and skills into their classrooms and even their homes, as they are read, reread, and remembered. It is exciting to both the students and myself, to see students embrace the things we talk about and use them in their lives outside of my classroom walls. They feel "strong, proud, healthy, in control, happy, and good" (their words) as they learn, grow and make good choices for themselves that affect their present and future. I would love to use these resources to assist them on their journey!
