We need books donated for scholars, so they can take 5-10 minutes to relax and read a book when they are feeling a little uninspired during an art project. This teaches them self-discipline and active strategies for brainstorming and encouraging creativity. Our school is also home base for all the English Language Learners in our local Public Elementary Schools, so Spanish and English books are a bonus! In the art studio, I want to inspire the love of reading for RBES scholars in our “Cozy Corner.” In the Cozy Corner sits Comfy Owl, a beanbag for the students to kick-it, while they read an art-inspired book. When they are finished reading the art book, they are encouraged to join us back at the art tables to continue creating masterpieces.
