Every morning, we spend an hour of quality time in our reading workshop. We start on the rug, exploring a skill or strategy that students will use during their small-group, partner, and independent work during the rest of the hour. In my classroom of 24 creative, hard-working, and wonderful students, they have the choice to sit at their desks or on the carpet. I'm asking for flexible seating to give students another choice with there they can sit, so they will have one more thing to look forward to during our reading workshop. Additionally, these storage benches have the added benefit of expanding the storage of books in my classroom! I have seen my students doing their best work when they have the choice of what to read, as well as where they can read! These benches will be great for my students who already love reading because they will be able to find another spot in the room to dive into a good book!
