Last year our PE program got 7 penny skateboards. Hundreds of students who have never experienced skateboarding stood on a board for the first time. The skateboards were an immediate hit with our students of all grades and now we face a new problem: How do we manage and maintain the integrity of each skateboard? With the purchase of these Reds bearings, our PE program can keep our students on skateboards, having fun, and rolling safely. Adding 8 more boards to our equipment room we will have a total of 15 and in classes of 50-60 this will allow us to create a Skateboarding Unit! This is an amazing unit to have because it helps students learn about a sport that they can do on their own outside of school. The goal is to teach them life long fitness and incorporating alternative sports to their list of possibilities opens the door to accomplishing that goal. Skateboarding gives students at 4C an opportunity gain confidence. Our mission in PE is to help our students make responsible decisions about their fitness and well-being. Our hope is to introduce students to a variety of activities in hopes that someday they participate in physical activities that help them be fit, healthy, and happy. With your generous donations, our students will continue to have the opportunity to learn confidence through the exhilarating thrill of skateboarding.
