We are fortunate to have a couple of computers available in our classroom as they allow students to learn through engaging and interactive activities. However, some of our students do not have the necessary coordination to operate a mouse or shift their attention from their mouse and keyboard to the screen. Those students are unable to use technology tools to enhance their learning. Research has shown that students with severe needs can benefit from using tablets and similar devices to increase their learning opportunities. Such devices make hand-eye coordination tasks easier, provide students with immediate feedback on their performance, and allow for interactive learning activities. Some of the activities the students will use the Kindles for are: matching and math games, accessing social skills lessons, phonics instruction, letter-sound correspondence activities, and more.
