The students at South Philadelphia High School are enrolled in Environmental Science and a project that I would love for them to work on is to build an environment that they would never have the opportunity to find in a city. This project will involve the planting, caring for and feeding of carnivorous plants. These plants include several Pitcher Plants, Venus Flytraps and a few Sundew to show them that not all carnivorous plants are the same. It will also highlight convergent evolution in plants. This lesson will include projects where students will create presentations of Biomes which will include location, range, ecological importance and detailed food webs that have developed within them. The students will teach each other about the precious locations in the world, highlight how they are fragile and improve their presentation and speaking skills.
