The school had the opportunity to get updated smartboards in the classroom. This gave my students the opportunity to learn through interactive lessons. Unfortunately, the teacher computer is outdated. The computer freezes and takes up valuable instructional time. Students wait patiently while trying to restart the computer. The instruction is planned for student involvement with bold pictures, the ability to be able to go up to the board and have their teaching moment. The concept of interactive learning allows the students to model for their peers the completed work. The touch screen Lenovo laptop provides students with the opportunity for fewer interruptions without outdated technology. The purpose of interactive learning through the smartboard allows each student the ability to model their work without the pressure of worrying about "accuracy." The focus is on self-evaluation and peer assessment through constructive critiques from their classmates. Student/peer-guided instruction builds mastery in learning because students have developed a rapport to trust each other and themselves through feedback and error analysis. This gift of a Lenovo laptop would make such a difference in the instructional process as well as the time for my students.
