Our goal is to create innovative child-centered classrooms that support creativity, cooperative play, and visible learning. By uniting nature, art, and our State Standards students will be able to symbolically showcase their learning in developmentally appropriate ways that will nurture their cognitive, social, creative and physical needs. Our requested items are hands-on nature inspired manipulatives that will foster and facilitate the creativity and expression of all current and future first grade students. By using these tools, students will be able to explore and showcase their understanding in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and build upon their social skills in 100 different ways, making their learning truly visible and uniquely their own. Students will be able to retell stories or write and illustrate their own using the art supplies. We will be able to make a light table where students will be able to explore shapes and their attributes, build geometric pieces of art, and become familiar with light, shadows, and layering.
