I am requesting these math games in order to help my students grow into strong and confident mathematicians! These materials will be used to help support my students to engage and understand the complex topics we cover in first grade. Some of the concepts that first graders learn, such as regrouping with addition and subtraction, can be very challenging. These games will support their understanding of the concepts while also being developmentally appropriate and engaging. Using these hands-on activities will support all learning styles, providing manipulatives for those who grasp concepts kinesthetically, as well as being visually stimulating for our more visual learners. First graders learn so much through play, which is why I strive to make learning fun and engaging! These games will support my students while also allowing them to play. They will engage in addition and subtraction concepts with peers and learn while having fun. This will also allow them to strengthen their collaboration skills, as most of these activities require group work. They will also learn skills that are developed through gameplay, such as taking turns, being supportive, and learning how to accept wrong answers. My hope is that these games will support their math skills, as well as social-emotional learning. I cannot wait to enhance my math curriculum with these new materials! I will use these in small groups, in pairs, and individually. My students will have a richer experience in my classroom while using these games, which will also solidify challenging concepts. Thank you for your support!
