Due to the pandemic, the students at my school are learning from home. While at school, I have several rolls of electrical tape that all the students use. Now that students are home, I am preparing toolboxes for them. While all the other items in the toolbox are accounted for, I wanted to provide them each with electrical tape. Electrical tape is essential for several electronics projects we do. Most importantly, it will be used for safety and for protection from shorted wires that are exposed. This project also funds a slide potentiometer needed for one of the seniors in Engineering II who is creating an audio mixer, from scratch (hard-wiring and programming) for their senior project.
A core educational belief of mine is that all education should be tied to something a student is passionate about; unfortunately, hands-on education requires a lot of equipment.
This project helps my Robotics, Engineering I, and Engineering II students explore their courses through various hands-on projects rather than textbook readings. Without these supplies, I will be unable to implement At-Home labs and experiments.
I believe project-based-learning activities are more meaningful and more effective.
