As we create our community of lifelong learners, it is important that we have the materials necessary to create a safe, learning environment for our students. The whiteboard easel will be a perfect way to foster this environment as we are able to gather in small groups and focus on targeted, differentiated instruction. Small group, or guided, instruction is not only a great way to differentiate learning, but it also allows students the ability to speak out comfortably among their peers. The mobile easel will be the center of almost all of our guided, shared, and interactive reading and writing lessons. It will give me a place to work on a whiteboard or with magnetic materials when teaching whole group or small group lessons to students. It will also be used to create anchor charts that will be displayed for reference for my students throughout the rest of the year! Other ways that the whiteboard easel will be utilized to maximize student achievement is through morning messages and small group math instruction in which my students will use the easel.
