My students are dual-language learners who are developing their reading skills in Spanish and in English. I teach them reading in Spanish as a way to foster learning English as a second language. When I teach them a reading skill in their native language, they are also taught to transfer this knowledge to the second language. My goal is to develop a love for reading in all my students by proving them with reading materials in their first language. These books will be a wonderful addition to our classroom library. They will be use during shared and quite reading, as well as baggie books.
