My students rely primarily on public transportation and many have not traveled outside of the city limits. Therefore, it is essential to provide them the opportunity for exposure to the performing arts by hosting a performance in-house and onsite. Transportation and finances should not be a barrier to bring culture and fine art experiences to my students. A fully funded project would allow a traveling Shakespeare performing arts company to provide an onsite performance for school-wide exposure to the play Hamlet. It will be performed in English and Spanish. This performance will provide a visual and auditory presentation to enhance the academic reading of the material and give my students the experience of attending a live performance.
