A sense of safety and security is one of the most basic components of a learning environment. Because most of my students are economically disadvantaged, returning to school is a matter of economic survival for their families. My students and their parents, however, are aware of the need for extra protection and precautions in the classroom and some have even voiced concerns about our classroom having no windows that open to provide the better ventilation recommended by the CDC. Nonetheless, they are trusting us, the teachers, to keep their children safe. A classroom air purifier would go a long way in increasing their sense of security and reducing their worries which will allow them to focus more on learning.
