My students approach learning from various different methods. For some, independent work and silent reading is beneficial. However, for most of my students, interactive learning with classmates makes the biggest impact. Therefore, what better way to encourage growth of vocabulary skills, spelling, and critical thinking skills than by working with their peers in an engaging learning method that also fosters healthy socialization, technology-free conversations, and problem solving? Scrabble, SLAM, Bananagrams, and Boggle are excellent literacy activities that will help students learn new vocabulary words, understand word pronunciation and usage. Other enrichment games, such as UNO, DOS, and Connect 4, have also been added to encourage problem solving, practice computing mental math, understand financial literacy concepts, and build positive camaraderie.
