The items I am requesting are necessities to creating and maintaining a quality band program. Our drum line does not have stands for their drums so they are forced to play with their drum on the floor or in a seat. This causes them to use improper playing techniques which can interrupt their ability to perform difficult rhythms. It has also meant that the students are unable to perform on the gym floor during pep rallies due to the instruments scratching and scuffing the floor. Providing the students with quality drum stands will drastically improve their playing technique and allow them to perform at more venues. The drum stands are not cheap, but will make a huge improvement to the band's playing as well as the perception the community has of the band program. The inclusion of these items will also improve students chances of receiving scholarships for music as it will ensure the students can accurately play with proper technique. I have seen the improvements in students' personal and academic lives by participating in music and it is my goal to make their experience in the program as beneficial to them as possible.
