As a specialist teacher, I don't have access to as many materials as a regular classroom teacher. I want my students to have great opportunities for instrumental music at school, as many of them do not have access to instruments at home. Having a classroom set of ukuleles would greatly influence my students and allow them relate music in school to the popular music they hear every day. Playing an instrument is a skill that teaches focus, hard work, and perseverance. My goal is to start their musical journey earlier with recorder in 3rd grade and have every student play a ukulele in 4th and 5th grade. With your help, every child would be know how to play an instrument by the time they leave elementary school.
