There is definitely a greater need for our students are Park Ridge Elementary to fill in the gaps in their reading literacy now more than ever. With the current state of our society, our students will be returning back to school far more behind the projected summer slide. I believe with a more diverse classroom library that allows my students to see their reflections in the characters in the books that are available for them to read; I will be able to promote student learning that will motivate students to pick up a book. Their experiences with reading will be transformed into a journey of personal connection by way of the characters or the events that occur in these books. So essentially, you would be assisting me and bridging the gaps in our students' learning through reflection and connection.
