Three-fourths of our population comes from low-income families. Experiences such as seeing an orchestra perform are not possible. My fourth graders come into my classroom excited about music. Seeing an actual orchestra perform will make material and content I teach become more alive and real by experiencing the orchestra first hand. Just seeing an orchestra through YouTube is not the same as feeling the music surround you in a theater experience. That alone is something to talk about. These kids need real-life experiences that they lack coming from low-income homes. I would love to give them this chance to see it for themselves!
