Stress is something we all deal with each and every day. Our students need a safe place and caring environment to hopefully help deal with that stress in a unique way. This project will allow students to take a break once a week to color their stress away in the safety, comfort, and peace of a quiet classroom. There are several studies showing that coloring helps not only to reduce stress but it also helps the brain work through the issues causing the stress in the first place. These studies have shown that coloring puts the mind into a meditative state where it is free to relax and then begin to think through things in a logical, problem solving manner. These studies also show that if you particularly enjoy coloring, doing something positive helps to expel negative thoughts and energy. Also, who can refute we need some reasons to get students to put down their phones and screens and focus on something else for a while. You don't have to be great at it either. Just as long as the students have fun, that's all that really matters to help the students to color their stress away!
