I'm the social worker at our school and this is my fourth year with our scholars. The items I've ordered may not seem the best suitable for a school, however, it's more times than none, the most essential. There have been numerous times I've come to work and by lunch time I've given away most if not all of the snacks I brought for myself. Our kids are going through the day with little or nothing to eat. Yes, we provide breakfast and lunch, however, most do not even make it to school in time for their first meal. Some of our kids are taking their siblings to school before they get to us. For some, lunch may be their only meal of the day. We need to do better for our kids. I'm building a serenity corner where they can come to not only talk about any stressors they're going through, but we can do so while they have a hot beverage and a healthy snack. It's proven that our kids are able to function more effectively when they've had something to eat. It's also a great way to get our kids to talk more because they'll feel more relaxed. Please help in any way that you can!
