My students come from an inner-city with very diverse backgrounds. English is not the first language of approximately 40 percent of my students and over 70 percent are categorized as low income. My students have been greatly impacted by social distancing, home quarantine, and remote learning. As we are all learning at home, it can be hard to stay connected with many families. I need to connect to make worthy relationships with my incredible, hardworking students. The change in their daily routines and only outlet, being school, has greatly impacted all of them socially, emotionally, and academically. They are using their home computers to join my daily remote classes. The lack of textbooks and paper/pencil learning has been a struggle with all of my students.
