Last year, I had students who opted out for distance learning while some attended school 2-4 times a week. It was clear that, with the changes brought upon by the pandemic, my students needed extra resources in order to continue to make progress with their IEP goals. These resources will provide my students the classroom that will tend to their academic, social, and behavior needs. Due to some of my students' needs, distance learning did not provide adequate instruction and support. Now that all of my students are returning to learn in-campus 5x a week, I want to provide a classroom that supports their needs while keeping in mind of their safety. Here is how I plan to do that: -Student stations Many of the resources I chose would provide activities and task cards to divide students into groups based on ability and social compatibility. This would make it easier for me to teach in stations with ready-made materials to teach new skills or re-teach learned skills using the resources provided. Student stations also support the idea of small groups that promote safety and distancing. - Continue Social-Emotional Learning Some of the resources such as emotion cards, conversation cards, and physical activity materials will continue to provide my students the opportunity to engage in SEL, something that they need especially due to the social and communication difficulties that may be affected by their disabilities. Items such as the basketball and frisbees provide my students the resource to engage in social interaction, physical activity, and play outside of the classroom while also promoting social distancing. -Safety Containers for personal sensory items to limit cross-contamination that may come with sharing materials. Laundry detergent for our washing machine. Help my students succeed and thrive this school year!
