Having these portable CD players in our classroom will allow my students to listen to stories. It is real reading! Stories are an important part of practicing reading skills. Hearing these stories helps my kids to form pictures in their minds and use their own imaginations. Listening to reading will help my students picture and understand words when they are reading books independently. I have one student in my classroom who only speaks Spanish and I would love it for her to have something to listen to both in English and Spanish during our literacy centers. This is going to help her to build those reading skills and picture the story and to understand those words.
