With an increase of childhood trauma, having items that allow us to give students opportunities to engage in rhythmic play while building a sense of community, is crucial to the learning environment in Kindergarten. Working in a Title 1 school, our students' experiences can be limited. We are hoping to give them the tools to learn to self-regulate. We as a team have learned about the importance of rhythm and relationships. We are hoping to enhance our relationship building by using these resources in multiple ways. The scarves, rhythm sticks, and bean bags will be used during class meetings. Students will be able to use these in literacy, math, and social/emotional learning lessons. Using these items will help build a stronger sense of community because they are stimulating and fun.
