Our classroom goal is to read one picture book each day of the school year. These will provide opportunities for us to practice things involving main idea, theme, character analysis and the list goes on and on. Having books that students can relate to and see themselves in is essential for building their self worth. These picture books have characters with different ethnic backgrounds so all kids can see themselves in the books. The characters also deal with situations that students deal with, such as friendship issues, loss, anxiety and overcoming fear. Our class is excited to read these throughout the school year!
