A classroom carpet is where students gather for each lesson and learn new concepts. The carpet is used constantly each and every day. From whole group read aloud, to number talks; the carpet is the heart of the classroom! Currently, I have a small oval carpet that fits only half my students. I have heard some students make comments about not being able to sit on the rug. I make sure to rotate seats monthly, however I worry they still feel left out when they are not on the carpet. A carpet encourages a welcoming environment! I want every student in my classroom to feel comfortable and valued. I believe that having a large rectangular carpet with individual squares will give each student the feeling of belonging in our room. It will be a little place they can call their own! With your donations towards this carpet I can ensure that each child feels included in our classroom.
