When creating projects out of clay we often start with a slab. Using a slab roller will expedite the assembly processes. The slab is a versatile technique used in hand building clay. Some examples of lessons and units using slabs are replica fossils in relief and usable vessels. Any standard ceramic studio would have a slab roller in the arsenal of tools. The slab roller allows for perfect thickness of the slab. Hand rolling the slab can create an unevenness that compromises the stability of the project. In an elementary setting, thickness can be hard to judge. The slab roller would take the specs of the material out of the question.
