Orchestra at the 4th and 5th grade levels is a phenomenal opportunity for the students in the Racine Unified district. Due to budget cuts in the district we are no longer able to provide strings for repairs on student instruments. This means that students cannot learn the full range of skills on their instrument. Having these strings will help them learn to play correctly and beautifully. When they can play this way they will be more likely to keep playing for years to come and enjoy the benefits that music has to offer. It has been proven that music students do better in a variety of subjects, including math and reading. Having strings for their instruments will help my students achieve academic success.
