Many students within the district come from homes where finding enough money for school supplies is difficult. Last year we had to plan accordingly because our math department shared one set of calculators. We altered schedules so students would not have tests at the same time. At the end of the year, we were down to about 20 calculators which is not enough calculators for a class. These calculators would help by allowing access to materials for students that do not have the funds to purchase school supplies. These calculators will also allow teachers to have more flexibility in their schedules to provide deeper learning activities and projects that require these tools.
