The iPad will allow me to be able to program a high tech Augmentative and Alternative communication software to allow my student to generate speech. I have been using basic Augmentative and Alternative systems for my student to communicate such as a whiteboard and marker and picture cards. I have also used facial features, body language, and tone to communicate to my student. Using a basic system is a start for developing speech. However, a basic system is not allowing him to fully augment his speech, complete assignments, or express his basic needs. Touching letters or pictures on a computer screen that speaks for you will allow him to be able to accomplish these tasks at school.
