Flexible seating allows students to take ownership over their learning environment. By giving a variety of options (such as stools, wobble chairs, cushions, etc.), it gives the students multiple choices on how they will learn best during certain class periods. Whether it be during independent work times or during whole or small group instruction, my students engage with learning more when they feel they have a sense of choice in how they want to learn. The products I have selected will help my students engage with their learning in new ways by changing how and where they want to learn. For those students that feel more comfortable sitting high up, near eye level of those standing, I will use the stools. Some students prefer to sit low to the ground and the wobble cushions will help them feel comfortable in doing so. My students will have days where they have a hard time sitting still and then they can choose a small wobbly-stool so that their bodies can be active while their minds can focus on learning. If they don't feel comfortable on a stool, a stay put exercise ball can help them bounce and fidget as much as their body needs, as their brain stays concentrated on receiving educational concepts. Thank you for your help in allowing these students and my classroom to grow.
