Reading success happens when students believe in themselves. Many special education students believe they can't, and therefore they won't. The materials I requested will allow me to support the whole learner. This will work on academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. My goal with these items is that I will have everything I need to support every unique need in my class. It is difficult to motivate students to read when they just are not interested in the topics or stories available or when there are no texts on their level. By funding this project students will have access to engaging texts on their instructional level as well as many items that will address the social emotional needs due to the pandemic and school closures.
