Help me give my students the necessary basic tools they need in order to succeed throughout the school year. The school community that I work with is in Elmhurst, Queens. Many of my children are from low income households however the love and dedication that is shown is overwhelming. Recently, During the Covid-19 outbreak, Elmhurst has become the epicenter. Many of the families have been affected by this pandemic; whether it has been the loss or sickness of a family member or the loss of financial stability. Parents are struggling to provide basic necessities for their families and it becoming very difficult to cope with the emotional and mental outcomes.
Once the school year starts, these families will not be able to provide basic supplies for their children and with budget cuts effecting every public schools, it is uncertain for many schools whether school supplies will be provided for both teachers and students. I am hoping with your help; we can at least provide these families with the basic necessary supplies so they can focus more on their children emotionally at home.
