After a full dose of online learning, nothing is more valuable to students than hands-on learning. Staring at their computers every day at school gets old, and I hear a lot of feedback that they're sick of doing things online. This project is to purchase a classroom set of half-scale dress forms to use in my Fashion Design Studio class. Students can use them to drape clothing on as they create their own designs. Although kids are adept at technology, their lives are so enmeshed in it that I've found they have a special appreciation for schoolwork that gets them to step away from the tech and into the hands-realm. The very basic hand-eye coordination skills necessary for activities like this are valuable across many disciplines, and who wouldn't love to design their own outfit on a mini form?
