Our students are so excited to learn however they have a hard time making connections to what they know because of limited experience. By giving us the Scholastic News, students will get a weekly copy of a magazine about world and life events that relate to them. There are colorful pictures, glossy pages, engaging articles about health, science, and the world. It is something the kids can take home and read over and over again. We (my fellow teachers and I) can plan engaging lessons using the magazine that will allow students to connect a new idea to their own experiences and life. We can do this by reading articles in the magazine that includes pictures and videos (through the website) that will help form connections to student learning.
