During independent and whole group work students are able to choose where in the room they want to work. Currently my students choose between laying on the floor, sitting in their chairs, sitting outside, or on top of the tables. Special Education students who can move while learning are more likely to stay engaged. When students are not worried about their environment, they are relaxed and able to put more energy into learning. Some students need to wiggle all day, while others need calming environments to work. The items I have selected will allow my students the option for flexible seating during group work, whole group lessons or independent work in our reading nook. The collapsible saucer chairs, ball chairs, and chair bands are lightweight solutions for all types of learners, and easily moved around the classroom to accommodate everyone's needs. The bulletin board set and rug will help provide a calm and encouraging room to make the classroom feel warm and inviting. Students who feel comfortable in their surroundings will feel more confident and willing to adventure out of their comfort zones, allowing themselves to be challenged in school. I believe these items will help create the perfect environment for my students to learn.
