I teach 2nd-8th grade art at a small low income neighborhood school in Glendale, AZ. My students have a strong drive to improve their work and make meaningful pieces of art. However, we often find it difficult for some students to find good references for their work through old books and posters. Our students have grown in an age where information is available at their fingertips. Likewise, artists often find technology an essential tool for research to help make their paintings and drawings better and better. My young artists face a similar problem and continuously must struggle to find images and more research tools to aid in their work. Some are able to use cellphones, but I have numerous students who don't have such a luxury. That's where adding a few computers to our class may come in handy! By helping us add a few small pieces of technology to our art room, you would be making classwork so much easier for these youngsters! These two Chromebooks would be just enough for our students to share and use for research in a new "Technology Center" and a new mini laser printer would allow us to print off images instantly without having to send students across campus or adding to the enormous list of other staff and students wanting to use our school copier. As artists, we know how to use limited resources to make the most out of our work. With your generous donations, you'd be giving an essential resource of the modern classroom to our Arroyo artists!
