These bookswill make a significant difference in the academic success of my students by making the content easier to relate to and comprehend. Within my district, there is an emphasis on materials being available for the students to refer to as they work to create independence and a deeper love for reading. These engaging stories will grab the students' attention as they relate to the characters and the plot action while they simultaneously experience the target skill. This skill will then be explicitly taught and discussed. After using the mentor text, it will be available for the children to refer back to, to refresh their memory of the skill taught that day or two weeks ago.
