In my art room, students are given the freedom to choose from a variety of art-focused centers, such as drawing, painting and collage. My goal is to provide as many opportunities for students to pursue their creative passion as possible. Adding an "architecture & engineering" center to the list of choices offered would give those students who like to design and build a creative outlet. Beyond just playing with blocks, the "architecture & engineering" center will focus on teaching my students the steps of the creative process. They will use the materials to plan, build, revise and reflect on their creations. Having a safe outlet to test their creativity and problem solving skills is an essential and powerful learning tool that will equip these young minds for success throughout their lives.
