Students should never be expected to sit completely still while learning. Some students need to be able to move a little on a yoga ball while others prefer to stand with the option to rest on a stool from time to time. Allowing students flexibility in their seating opens their mind to different learning styles and strategies. It helps them think outside of the box. While teaching math, these options are important. Several students have ADHD and need to fidget. A yoga ball allows just that. Some students need to stand and walk around a little. A standing desk or pub table allows that flexibility. Sitting still may keep them quiet, but it could also hinder their academic ability. Students need to move and think. They need breaks from solitary structure. Students should never be confined to a desk!
