About my class

The Connecticut Nutmeg Book Award encourages elementary and middle school students to read engaging, quality literature and to vote for their favorite selection from a list of ten nominees. The nominated books in both the intermediate and middle school categories were chosen as great examples of current fiction stories that have strong characterization and engaging plot lines. The fulfillment of this project would give the entire sixth grade access to twenty new book titles that they could read throughout the year. They would gain access to a variety of literature that covers current social issues from a diverse background of authors. These books are often the first selected from the classroom library shelves for years to come, so this project would not only support my current students, but would reach a vast number of 6th graders at our school.
