Students will get to learn about healthy eating in the Hispanic community hands-on. They will dig into the food deserts that exist in California. Teaching them how to plant a garden, even if they live in an apartment, is imperative. Health is wealth. Nutrition is important and they can afford to eat healthily. Who really takes the time to teach or educate inner-city kids about a garden? No one takes that time, and that's why I would love the opportunity to do so. These materials will allow us as a grade level to break the cycle. To change that norm. To make eating healthy a common thing in our school's neighborhood.
