I teach the Transitions to High School class to all freshmen at KKHS. Presently, I have 150 students for the first semester of school. I will have the second 150 students the second semester of school. In this class, students are responsible to complete their first 10 tasks in their Personal Transition Plan required for graduation. In addition, we engage in assignments that help them plan for their future and start them on their path for college and career readiness. Students will use the Naviance computer program that is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcome, and connecting learning to life. Students will also use the Achieve3000 computer literacy program that helps improve student reading lexile and comprehension. We will utilize Achieve3000's career center which is designed to motivate students to plan for the future by building the literacy skills required for the career of their choice. Basically, this Transition to High School class helps to provide freshmen students with the skills and attitude needed to successfully navigate high school, work, and life...making them COLLEGE AND CAREER READY USING CHROMEBOOKS!
