I work with mostly struggling readers from a variety of backgrounds. Providing these students with novels filled with characters they can see themselves in helps them become invested in what they are reading. Being invested in the material not only helps my students master skills and build stamina, but also learn to love reading. My struggling readers desperately need books that can hold their attention. Many of my students have never finished a book on their own. In fact, many of them have never seen an adult, in their home, reading a book.The skills and stamina that students gain when they read are invaluable to their development. I am asking for a class set of four different books including The Hate U Give and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Please consider helping me get relevant books into my student's hands.
