I am asking for some more updated, engaging books that I can read with my students as a class! We will be reading these books aloud. All of my students LOVE when I read books to them, and it allows us dig into the text together. The books we have now aren't very engaging, and I really want my students to enjoy reading! (Especially those who claim they don't like it.) READING IS POWER (: I am asking for 25 copies of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter and A Wrinkle In Time: The Graphic Novel. I chose I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter because my students are limited in the diversity category. They don't often find themselves relating to, or hearing stories like the one told here. I want my students to be empowered, and I want them to #DisruptTexts. I chose A Wrinkle In Time: The Graphic Novel because I have found that my reluctant readers really enjoy graphic novels. Not only this, but all of my students love reading graphic novels! This a great story, that I think will transfer well to my classroom.
