For students to learn and be successful, they need to have control of their emotions and be able to self regulate. The yoga ball chairs and therapeutic social emotional learning games will help students build these skills where they are lacking. The yoga ball chairs will be placed directly in the classrooms where students who struggle more to sit still and maintain focus can use them in order to meet their sensory and movement needs. The therapeutic games and tools will be used in the social workers' offices to work in small groups and individually with students. These tools will give our students the opportunity to build critical life skills which not only will help them better achieve success in school, but also throughout life. This will help students process difficult situations and feelings, build social and emotional awareness, increase problem solving and conflict resolution, and improve lagging skills such as executive functioning and emotional regulation. Kids from poverty and trauma backgrounds often lack these essential skills, and these tools will give them the opportunity to build skills that will last a lifetime, and help them be the best they can be!
